Tenis Barcelona open banc sabadell 67º trofeo condé de godó 20-28 abril 2019
On the occasion of the inauguration of the club’s new headquarters in Pedralbes in 1953, Carlos Godó Valls, Count of Godó, decided to set up a tournament that would reflect the sporting ambitions of the club’s entire history.
The new competition inherited the seed of the old International Championships, the great interclub competitions and the Spring and Autumn Competitions, to position itself in the then incipient world calendar of tournaments.
First played in 1953, the history of the trophy given by the Count of Godó is linked to that of the oldest Spanish tennis club, Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, owner and host of the tournament.
Over time, the tournament has become an emblem for the city of Barcelona and has become not only the most important sporting event held annually, but one of the most resonant social events. The atmosphere of the club makes it one of the most appreciated tournaments for the players of the circuit. Since 1968, the tournament acquires the condition of International Championships of Spain.
This year we will have players confirmed as:
Rafael Nadal from Spain, Dominic Thiem Austria, Kei Nishikori Japan, Stefanos Tsitsipas Greece, Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev Russia, Fabio Fognini Italy, Denis Shapovalov Canada, David Goffin Belgium, Alex de Miñaur Australia, Gilles Simon France, Pablo Carreño Spain, Frances Tiafoe United States, Lucas Pouille France, Felix Auger-Aliassime Canada. . . and many more.
