In 2016, the International Institute for Urban Strategies published lists of cities in the world ranked according to the Global Power City 2016.
According to these indicators, Barcelona rose to the 14th line of the world rating. A year ago, the capital of Catalonia was ranked 26th in this list. The table is headed by London, New York and Tokyo. The research conducted by the institute demonstrates good results in many accounting parameters. Weak indicators in Barcelona only in the sections reliability of jobs and social inequality.
The highest places in Barcelona – in the category of cities that are attractive for entrepreneurship 10th position and cities with the most developed digital technologies 9th, a city convenient for congresses and international forums 3- I, a city with a well-developed infrastructure for sporting competitions at the highest level 3rd and the port with the highest attendance by cruise ships 1st.
Also in 2015, Barcelona and Madrid – were among the top ten cities in the world for the price rating of the Hotel Price Index HPI.
In the rating of two-star hotels Madrid got the sixth place with an average price per day of fifty five euros.
In the list of five-star hotels, the capital of Catalonia hit the 10th place with an average daily rate of 244 €. The most expensive numbers on this list were recorded in New York – 401 €, Los Angeles – 390 € and San Francisco 387 € , as well as Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Boston and Biarritz -from 383 to 363 € .
