Garnacha is a productive and vigorous vine. Due to its early budding, it is sensitive to frost, and if the weather conditions are adverse, this can cause it to shift. Rainfall can cause mildew and, if late, rot. It is a variety resistant to drought and adapted to strong insolation. The bunches are medium sized and compact. The berry is spherical and medium-sized. The skin is fine from violet red to purple. Late ripening gives a high alcohol content.

Red grape variety from Cariñena, Aragon.
Cariñena is a vigorous and fertile stock, with medium-late budding, so it should not be affected by spring frosts. It has a good curd and the berries are late ripening. The vine has an upright branch. The bunches are large, cylindrical-conical, compact and winged. They give a high yield in must. The berries are spherical and large, blue-blackish and thick skinned. The Cariñena berry offers a high degree of pigmentation and a high sugar content. As a result, wines of intense colour and high alcohol content will be obtained.
