FIRE!! International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival of Barcelona
Date: 06/06/2019 to 16/06/2019
Fire!! A film festival organized by the Casal Lambda, a non-profit organization whose objective is the normalization of homosexual fact. Since 1976 it offers a meeting point and advice for gays and lesbians, and it is also a documentation center on sexuality guided by professionals. Casal Lambda develops an important work to sensitize public institutions, political parties and the whole society, organizing cultural activities, like the International Mostra of Cinema Gai i Lesbia of Barcelona, which this year reaches its 24th edition.
The name of the festival is a tribute to the New York magazine FIRE !! that was published at the end of the twenties and that was directed by black and gay writer Richard Bruce Nugent. Bruce Nugent belonged to the Harlem Renaissance movement and was portrayed in one of the most emblematic films of the festival, “Brother to Brother”, which the festival projected in its 2008 edition.
